COMMISSIONAIRE SECURITY RECEPTIONIST, SOUTH SERVICE CENTER (SSC), ENMAX

Reporting to the Enmax Commissionaire Site Supervisor/Assistant Site Supervisor, the SSC Receptionist is responsible for smooth running of the SSC reception desk. Typical duties include acting as first point of contact for incoming telephone calls, directing visitors and interacting with client employees and management.

The work schedule for the successful applicant will be Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION

  • Must be a present employee of the Corps of Commissionaires – Southern Alberta

· Must possess an Alberta Security Guard License

· Must be trained in Dealing with Difficult People (DWDP)

· Advanced computer skills most notably Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) are essential

· Personable team player with a proven ability to operate independently in a wide variety of dynamic and challenging situations

· Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong organizational, time management, priority setting and customer service skills

· Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimum supervision

· Proven ability to make informed decisions without unnecessary delay

· Current Standard First Aid

· Effective written and verbal presentation skills: English essential

· Experience in a security control center monitoring video and alarm systems (strong asset)

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL COMPETITION – JOB OPPORTUNITY

COMMISSIONAIRE CELL GUARD,

MEDICINE HAT POLICE SERVICE

Reporting to the Supervisor, Traffic Control, this position is responsible for providing support and assistance to Police officers as it relates to detained persons during their shift. The primary responsibility is as a custodian and to guard prisoners being held in Police Service Holding Cells. This position works closely with all members and other agencies, who have prisoner’s detained in Police Service Holding Cells.

Candidate must be willing to complete a full disclosure document as well as under go a polygraph. Candidate must pass the polygraph to be considered for the this position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure that all Service policy relating to the holding facility or prisoner security is reviewed, understood and complied with.

· Be aware of emergency procedures such as fire and evacuation of prisoner’s from the holding cells.

· Ensure that all necessary information on prisoners is obtained and properly recorded during admission to cells, including existing medical issues/injuries.

· Ensure that prisoners property is documented on their Arrest Report and property secured in lockers.

· Any cash or jewellery requires accurate documentation.

· Ensure that any medical needs deemed to be required is conveyed to the S/Sergeant as soon as is possible.

· Report new injuries, or behaviour changes to the S/Sergeant immediately.

· Ensure accurate records are documented in the Electronic Booking In/Cell Management System such as prisoner movement, times checked (every 15 minutes) and the admission and release of prisoners.

· Ensure that cell doors are not opened unless another member/cell guard or the sheriff is present.

· Arrange for the transfer of prisoners and their property to the Remand Centre when prisoners are remanded in custody.

· Coordinating Bail Hearings to ensure that the Justice of the Peace, police and prisoner are connected to the conference call.

· Assist the CPO with any prisoner that requires photographs and fingerprints when it is safe to do so.

· Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all cells prior to them being occupied.

· Ensure seized property is checked and signed for when returned to a prisoner.

· Burn DVD’s of cell block closed circuit recordings when required.

· Arrange meals for prisoners who are in custody for extended periods.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

· Must possess a valid security guard license.

· Must provide a complete disclosure package and pass a Polygraph test.

· Complete understanding of how to utilize all computerized and office equipment required for prisoner management.

· Exceptional computer skills

· Strong written and verbal communications skills.

· Ability to use an Operational Radio/Telephone.

· Must be able to remain calm and effective during emergency situations.

· First Aid/CPR and AED training to be completed/recertified in accordance with the industry standard.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

· Service orientation training.

· Successful completion of the Corps of Commissionaires (Health and Safety Manual).

· Successful completion of the Remand/Cell Block Standing Operating Procedures.

· Preference will be given to graduates of a Criminal Justice Program, or ex-Military.

COMMISSIONAIRE PHOTO RADAR OPERATOR,

MEDICINE HAT POLICE SERVICE

Reporting to the Commissionaire Supervisor, Medicine Hat Police Service, Photo Radar operators are responsible for conducting enforcement at designated sites assigned to them and set up their units in accordance with their training. They are responsible to make accurate notes of violations during their shifts and make necessary camera adjustments to ensure continued quality of violation images while in operation.

Position Requirements

· Succesfully complete a full disclosure documents as well as successfully pass a polygraph. Successful completion of the Multanova, MultaRadar CM Course (Theory and Practical)

· Successfully achieve appointment as a Community Peace Officer and to abide by the Public Security Peace Officer Program.

· Proficiency in the use of newer technologies including computers and mobile communication devices

· A valid Alberta (Class 5) Driver’s License along with a clean driving abstract

· High level of English fluency for speaking, reading and writing in order to meet the requirement to provide evidence in Court

  • Applicants must be willing to accept shifts at any time, day or night

· Physical ability to move the photo radar equipment and set up in all weather conditions

  • Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations
  • Deal professionally and courteously with the public at all times
  • Recent security industry experience an asset
  • Recent affiliation with Canadian Forces or RCMP a strong asset

Education Requirements (proof required):

  • MUST have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED/IQAS
  • Current First Aid qualification with CPR and AED

· Possession of a valid Security Guard Licence is an asset

Reporting to the Commissionaire CPS Contract Supervisor, the District Supervisor is responsible for the day to day supervision, assignment, deployment, deportment, administration, and good conduct of the Commissionaire guards assigned to the CPS Districts.

The work schedule for the successful applicant will be 4 days on, 4 days off, 8 am to 8 pm (some occasional flexibility depending on site requirements).
